HOLISTIC SCENOGRAPHIC MURALS & ARCHITECTURAL METAMORPHOSIS
Never before has the family of humankind had a greater need for the power of Art to generate calming connections across world systems. Jeanne Ricketts' visionary paintings link internal emotional and cognitive systems with external cultural realities and explore new patterns for understanding nature & human nature." -
Dr. Phillip Romero MD & Joe La Placa (Director of Cardi Gallery London), Authors of the psychology book "Phantom Stress"
Jeanne Ricketts is an international entrepreneurial intuitive-abstract artist, primarily driven by the energy of oceans, lakes, ponds, rivers and sea-shores which destiny embraced her with waves since her conception on her parent's honeymoon in Crete.
In the spring of 2019, Jeanne Ricketts moved from the south of France to London in the midst of Brexit, then was invited back to Switzerland after haven performed one of her three meter waves, painted just above water-level on île Rousseau, in front of a large audience hosted by the Four Season's hotel on Lake Geneva, "City of Water and Peace".
Curiously, Art collectors have commonly found in her works a reminiscence in style with the waves of HOKUSAI; with the lines of ZAHA HADID, for both being driven by the shapes of dunes, reminiscent of RICKETTS'' large scale "ocean-skies"; with ROBERTO MATTA for her "soulscapes" versus his "inscapes" - and at last, with FRIDA KAHLO for a similar destiny and processes of holistic visualisation.
Jeanne Ricketts was first discovered in the year 2000 for her earliest murals in the fault of a chapel in Provence, after which over sixty murals where commissioned and about hundred and fifty small to large scale art pieces where created across Europe, Asia, Brazil, the middle east and the USA, like the murals for Pierre Cardin's Maxim's (2000), her 1.st "SWAY" poster (2015) for Bernard Massini Président of the advisory board of the MAMAC Museum in Nice - "Venite Ad Me", patronized by Ocean Energy, Greenergy series (2010) at First Energy Bank, in Bahrain - Further Collectors to name a few are : the artist Louis Cane, Founder of the Movement Supports/Surfaces in 1998, Paris / Claude Grunitzky CEO & Co-founder of Trace TV, True & True Africa (NYC), Omar Fayed (UK), Eberhard Württemberg (D), Demosthenes Canakis (NYC).
It was her French village mayor, Mr. Thierry Guégen, who commissioned her to create this master piece in the vault of St. Louis' Chapel (built in 1646 in the hamlet of La Doire de Séranon, North of Grasse, off the famous "Route Napoléon", where her beloved father has been buried during lockdown. "Heavenly Kingdom, Earthly Kingdom" is the title she gave to her 5 x 7,70 meter mural she painted during six months of hermitage in multiple layers of shades of colors, providing a visual sensation of swaying in deep peace between two parallel worlds, blending into her main topic, body (earth) and soul (heaven)".
Jeanne was notably interviewed fifteen years later in that chapel by Dr. Philipp Romero MD from New York City, Founder of the Smart Peace Prize, in may 2015. He interviewed Andy Warhol and other established artists and scientists, in the pursuit of brain studies ; building a theory on proving how the spirit of Art brings resilience and peace at all times.
From 2010 > 2020 her series "ocean-skies" merged into her concept SWAY® she created for her interdisciplinary collaborations as conceptual muralist, and as vector to dematerialize the material realm via soul-medium in a transfiguring era of emotional intelligence and cultural revolution. Ricketts' first canvases were isolated themes which later fitted in the puzzle of a series of roughly 150 small to large-scale paintings. Not purely abstract, yet fully intuitive, her paintings suggest a tartan of transcultural soulscapes, strongly intertwined with her original byzantine lines. Her creative proceedings often incubate as mixed-media over-drawn paintings over depleted photographic prints, defining her etherial series, like the soul of anything alive or portraits of countries seen via inner locutions.
Her art name Jeanne Ricketts evolved from "Jaan" = SOUL in Sanskrit, Urdu and Farsi ) yet originated from Janine Ricketts. Born outside Paris in the 70s, into a lineage of transcultural artists, poets (Rudyard Kipling) and musicians : Her Scottish grandmother was a pianist and soloist of Aberdeen’s Orchestral Society and was Jeanne's first music teacher together with her father. Her inter-generational affinities, embodied as an empath towards all mankind, connect the dots in the heart of her art. Wether originating in premonitory visions or as spontaneous brush movements, makes her often only later realise the higher reason behind her own creations. One of her most striking experiences was the one of her first holistic portraits entitled : "and this is Iraq" (2008) then later "Sister Syria" (2016) which simultaneously lined up with more abstract series like her "merging souls", which bridged the content into her interdisciplinary collaborations within the luxury sector for CSR (Corporate Social responsibility)..
Jeanne graduated in Arts & Fashion (1994) from the HKW in Baden-Württemberg,(D) and returned regularly in the region to her Uncle's estate to paint in one of their Towers in Jettingen’s Castle, birth place and home of Claus Schenk Graf von Stauffenberg. This anchored Jeanne's values to use her Art as vector for Ethics, Healing, unity and Freedom.
It was on the Island of Rhodes (GR) that she initiated her autodidactic mural-collaborations with international architects, whilst studying byzantine iconography under Eva Vlavianos, of which these ancient lines marked her main style ever since. -
In 1996 Ricketts graduated with awards from Europe’s most renowned Murals and Decorative Arts Masters at the time, Yannick Guégan, whom’s Studio for 15 exclusive students was by the ocean in Brittany (F). When Jeanne painted her very first large-scale “OceanSky”, all students stopped to watch her paint, to the greatest irritation of her Master, which made her humbly realize that her art didn't come from her, yet through her. Her dyslexic, non-conformal, yet strong discernment and intuitive overflowing mind, is the opposite of an academic backgroud, which she purposely kept that way to avoid being influenced by any other artists than her own inner world.
From 1999 Ricketts assisted and painted exclusively on a regular basis at "Castel Caramel" (F) with surrealist Ernst Fuchs, who at times worked with Dali and Hundertwasser. Their daily collaborations exposed her to the culture scene which is how she met RAZZIA, the official LVMH poster-artist, with whom she shared years of affinities for vintage & the dolce vita.
Her distinct, intuitive - abstract expressionism across her body of works and murals, are the reflection of the atmosphere she absorbed in her various living destinations close to seashores, oceans, lakes, ponds and rivers. her favorite refuge was literally on the French "Mala Beach" in Cap D’ail, at "Villa Solitude", Former villa of Romy Schneider & Alain Delon, where the waves where almost beating up against her bedroom walls and triggered her most powerful pursuit in life. Beyond an almost asian calligraphic style of ocean-skies, SWAY transmits a metaphysical dimension in synchronicity with our times. Her works are driven by inner locutions which may unfold as to how we relate to another from holistic perspectives. Her mural perspectives (matter) shaped her inner perspectives (spirit), which coexist in holistic metamorphosis for architectural charisma.
Her entrepreneurial, risk-taking art-ventures with architects, designers, art-collectors and governments trespassed the more traditional galleries and Biennales agenda, however between 2005 & 2010 she co-curated with the Iranian owned aminiart gallery ( a cousin of Shirin Neshat ) she was engaged to. During those years, Her art sold amongst pieces of Andy Warhol, Pablo Picasso, Arman, Yves Klein, Sosno, Cesar, Louis Cane, Ben, Gilles Miquelis, Dariush, to name a few... from then on, friends who owned art foundations, as well as gallerists, encouraged her to continue her off-gridd purpose-driven, initial, solo-path as entrepreneurial artist.
From 2003 she regularly painted in Germany to deepen her art purpose at her uncle's estate, in one of the towers of Jettingen’s Castle, birth place and home of Claus Schenk von Stauffenberg. This inevitably anchored Jeanne's call in painting salvational and conscious awakening themes.
Jeanne was awarded in Paris for "Arts and World Culture" at UNESCO in September 2015, for her holistic portrait of Iraq pre-announcing the unfolding of what became the Arab Spring in her speech on "Genocide, Art and Peace" held at the occasion of the Centenary of the Armenian Genocide, hosted by a Scientific Organisation of Mount Ararat. She was re-invited a year later In September 2016 to hold a conference on the meaning behind her holistic family portrait entitled : “our eldest Brother Iraq & Sister Syria” at United Nations in Geneva.
Her autobiographical short-film "Trapped in Freedom" filmed on the 12.12.12. by Franz Fox Kennedy reveals what drives SWAY via her metaphysical art experiences : Her almost aboriginal, wild, mixed-media "swayscapes" and holistic street-art,, poetry, cross-dissolved layers of diluted inks, painted over depleted photographs and drawings, as seen in various small to large-scale works, she cuts through, reflect the duality of our times and have set into motion her ethereal canvases and murals

"Through Jeanne's painter's eye,
her photographs inspired her paintings.
Both have developed into thematic crossed layers,
adding up to her calligraphic expression." -

"Au fil des étoiles, l’oeil s’aperçoit
que ses représentations sont d’un autre monde,
et qu’elles demeurent pour nos regards éternellement présentes dans une fusion de symboles.." -
Jean-Marie FIORUCCI - Agence France Presse 2010
"In search of supreme harmony,
Ricketts fearlessly trespasses ordinary limits,
stretching contrasts to thinned out extremes.
All is brought into another dimension.
The vibes of liveliness in her works,
in which various shapes intertwine like tartans,
give the impression that her works aren't static." -
